How I got here…
Mixed-Up Creations was born when I said goodbye to one of my passions, teaching. I needed to be more available to my ailing mother, who was joining our household. My love of art stemmed from my mother who was an incredibly talented oil and acrylic painter. Knowing I had a depleting amount of time with her stirred my desire to connect with her through art.
Having always been a creative creature and an avid reader of blogs since their conception, I thought I would give blogging a try. On my 48th birthday, I formally started my business Mixed-Up Creations. My plan was to create mixed-media and teach classes by opening up my studio for others while selling my artwork.
Two years have passed, a lot has happened. My mother joined her love in heaven on February 14, 2015. I like imagining her dancing her way to heaven in the arms of her Valentine. My mother-in-law, Dot, was freed from Alzheimer’s in May of the same year. Brett, my husband, and I once again found ourselves empty nesters of a new kind. Mixed-Up Creations, the blog, had been put on the back burner, I was still finding time to time to create and explore mixed-media but I started falling in love with a new art form I had never explored before, metalsmithing.
Over the last year, I have immersed myself in learning about metal and the metalsmithing process. EB Creations is the bi-product of this learning process. It is in the developing stage but I have found my artist voice emerging with each piece I create.
Stay tuned for more additions to my site within the next couple of months. My storefront will be open soon. In my store, you will be able to purchase EB Creation’s one of a kind originals, mixed-media canvas, and schedule private lessons in my studio.
